Emerald Citizen and Community Group Awards

Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Emerald community? Then nominate them for an Emerald Citizen Award!

There are three award categories:

Citizen of the Year (over 25 years on 1 January 2024)
Young Citizen of the Year (under 25 years on 1 January 2024)
Community Group of the Year

Successful awardees may be asked to play a role during the year of their appointment, as guest speakers at community occasions and events.

To nominate, fill out the form below with the following:

Explain the reasons for nomination, achievements and background.
Enclose clear copies of any available supporting material e.g. .newspaper or magazine articles.
List any other awards and include other relevant information.
Submit the full name and address of the nominator and state the relationship to the nominated person (self-nominations not accepted).

A selection panel of Emerald Village Association Committee members (and previous awardees) will assess the nominations. All nominees and successful awardees will be notified in writing by the Emerald Village Association Inc.

To be eligible for an award, nominees must:

Reside or operate in the 3782 postcode (Avonsleigh, Macclesfield, Clematis and Emerald)
Be employed or active within the Emerald and District community
Willing to accept the award

Awards are presented at the Emerald Village Association community meeting, 7:30pm, Wednesday 25 October, Hills Hub.

Application for membership

To apply to become a member of the Association, a person must submit a written application to a committee member stating that the person: • wishes to become a member of the Association; and • supports the purposes of the Association; and • agrees to comply with these Rules. The application • must be signed by the applicant; and • may be accompanied by the joining fee. • Note The joining fee is the fee (if any) determined by the Association under rule 12(3). Consideration of application • As soon as practicable after an application for membership is received, the Committee must decide by resolution whether to accept or reject the application. • The Committee must notify the applicant in writing of its decision as soon as practicable after the decision is made. • If the Committee rejects the application, it must return any money accompanying the application to the applicant. • No reason need be given for the rejection of an application. New membership If an application for membership is approved by the Committee: • the resolution to accept the membership must be recorded in the minutes of the committee meeting; and • the Secretary must, as soon as practicable, enter the name and address of the new member, and the date of becoming a member, in the register of members. • A person becomes a member of the Association and, subject to rule 13(2), is entitled to exercise his or her rights of membership from the date, whichever is the later, on which— o the Committee approves the person's membership; or o the person pays the joining fee.
